Residents Information

Thank you for visiting our web site. You will find pertinent information regarding things that affect your lives on a daily basis, documents for review, suggestions on how to keep our community green and upcoming meetings that may be of interest to you.

We have sought out and received many grants, most of which did not require matching funds, so we can offset any costs that we had anticipated. We are currently working on several more grants to help our town.

Our Green Initiatives process is in full swing. We are committed to making North Smithfield a greener, safer community. We are working with a  group of concerned citizens and energy experts who are moving forward with implementing green initiatives, increased recycling, and energy savings in our town and school buildings. They will also assisting creating an increased awareness of green lifestyle opportunities for all of us.

Green Energy Ideas

As we look ahead, the state of the economy has not improved dramatically, but we are planning strategies that can put us in a good position to take advantage of opportunities for our town. I always welcome your assistance in keeping things on track. Please feel free to contact us to express your concerns and suggestions. I will keep you posted on all changes. Please check our Web site periodically to get information that may affect you and the town.

Revaluation Begins

Marshfield Commons Underway

Marshfield Commons is being constructed in North Smithfield on more than six acres at 83 Mechanic St. It will provide 38 traditional townhouse apartments for low- and moderate-income working households.

NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley, the developer, has a long history of providing quality affordable housing in the region, including the award-winning "Meadows" on Village Way, the Town's largest elderly housing complex.

Marshfield Commons will use state-of-the-art environmental design, including permeable pavement for stormwater management. Buildings will incorporate advanced energy conservation measures.

Architect John O'Hearne has created a New England village look with a common green that will have an Autumn Blaze maple tree as its centerpiece. More information about residency will be forthcoming in the near future.

Sincerely,

Paulette D. Hamilton
