RECYCLE - There are ways to recycle so many items!

Recycling is sorting like materials so it can then be made into new items, instead of being landfilled. When disposing an item, take a look at what is made of (metal, plastic, etc.) to see if it might be accepted in one of our recycling programs below.

logoPlease make sure you sort all recyclables from you trash.  Any recycling that is mixed in your trash can never be removed or recycled-- instead it goes straight to the landfill.

Having extra recycling is a great thing - just help and clearly mark the can you are using.

The town always encourages extra recycling. All we ask is that you use this sticker so our recycling hauler knows what is in that can.  Keep in mind, these guys are at over 1000 homes a day, so if we make is clear what is in our cans, they'll be able to provide great service.

The stickers are free!  You can pick them up at Town Hall and the Highway Garage, or call and we will mail them.  Please add this sticker to any bin you use for recycling outside of the curbside blue or green standard recycle bin.  This includes blue bins stamped with the recycling logo or any other containers you might of hand marked recycling.

Our goal is to make sure all your recycables get into the correct truck -- This sticker makes it very clear for our recycling crew and will cut down on any confusion.

Electronics that are metal, (eg: microwaves, toaster ovens, VRC etc.) are still accepted at the highway garage and will be recycled within our scrap metal collection.

RECYCLING E- Waste

While the highway garage no longer accepts E- waste, that does not mean this waste item cannot be recycled. Indie Cycle hosts many e-waste recycling events all RI residents are welcome to attend.

Click below for a link to their website where you can view the schedule of events.  This is a great option and keeps all this waste out of our landfill,  we hope you use this service.
